Lol! That's funny. Take a southern caribbean cruise. You'll visit a lot of the places at the top of your first list.

LOVED seeing you the other day! Thanks for having me out.

Had a great time on Sunday. Thanks for the invite! I would like to mention that Chicago is only a 4 hour drive and while some costs in the city are high, there is a lot of free stuff to do too.

Most of the parks are free, including the zoo in Lincoln Park.

you can a have drink in the bar at the top of the John Hancock tower - kids can get pops of course it's not a trashy bar) and you can get the view for free too.

The lakefront path is free.

American Girl store is free to get into, but I know they'll get you to buy stuff so not really free.

The sidewalk entertainers on Michigan Ave is free and so is window shopping. Until you hit Crate and Barrell and then forget about it.

I do recommend splurging on an architectural boat tour though. That was the best/most informative thing I've ever done in the city.

Oh and there is a Children's Museum by Navy Pier. I despise Navy Pier but most people are not offended by it like I am. It's just way to commercial/tourist trappy for me. And I usually love the cheesey stuff.

Oh there is also free stuff that the visitors bureau offers, like free walking tours and stuff.

Oh and I also noticed that you left Kalamazoo off your list ;) JK

Katrina - thanks for coming Sunday. I was telling Val how cool it was to meet you and how it didn't really feel like I was meeting a new person.

I actually promised Becca that I would take her to Chicago this summer to go to the American Girl store. We love Chicago! I just wanted to wait for that one until it warms up a little. I love to walk and hate to freeze;)

This is such a great post!

Don't forget about all the great stuff to do in MI. Matt and I have entertained the idea of spending a week camping on the westside of the state. When worse comes to worse, o.d.'ing on mackinaw island fudge on mackinaw island is always a good option :-))
